We had a great time at the Festival of the Plants on June 30th at Farfields Farm in Afton, VA.
The event set out to celebrate the work of both Farfields farm in Afton and Botanica Mobile Clinic in Charlottesville. Recently Farfields offered to grow herbs for our clinics at Botanica and to host a summer fundraiser. In addition to supporting Botanica’s work in the Charlottesville Area through donations for food and raffles, the event also highlighted the work and products of Farfields Farm, with a particular focus on the farm’s regenerative agriculture, community building, and ecological and social innovation.
Among the days events were Garden Tours, Tea Tastings, Tastes of Farfields, Collaborative Mandala Making, Children’s Treasure Hunt, Native Plant Sales, Raffles, and a Song Circle. Farfields Farm products were also available for purchase including Organic Eggs, Grass-Fed Beef, and herbal products including a beautiful Calendula salve.
One of my absolute favorite things about this event was the Farm-Grown meal provided by Farfields Farm. There’s nothing better than farm fresh meat and produce prepared thoughtfully by folks closely connected to the earth. Kelly even made cornbread from corn grown on the farm. What a treat and honor to share the meal with our friends, farmers, and fellow plant lovers.
Overall this day was a big success and we are so grateful for everyone at Farfields farm for hosting and for continuing to support local ecology, medicinal and native plants, and our community.
